VALENCIA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona girls’s tennis notched its second win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Convention opponent La Roche College 6-3 at Lakevue Athletic Membership. Stephanie Swain, a Forbush Excessive College alumnus, earned an 8-1 win in her doubles match.
The Lions (2-2, 2-2 AMCC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the match by securing two factors in doubles play.
Within the No. 1 doubles match, Jessica Stevens (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Victoria Acker (Cresson, PA/Penn Cambria) rolled to an 8-1 victory. Within the No. 3 doubles slot, the tandem of Elani Etter (Franklin, TN)/Swain earned an 8-1 win.
Stevens and Acker’s win was the duo’s second collectively this season, whereas Etter and Swain partnered for his or her first win as a twosome.
Penn State Altoona proceeded to win 4 out of six from La Roche (1-1, 1-1 AMCC) within the singles portion of the match to win the day by three factors.
Stevens began issues off with a 6-1, 6-0 victory within the No. 1 match, and Alivia Serenita (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) prevailed 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) within the No. 4 match. Swain and Etter cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins within the No. 5 and No. 6 slots, respectively.
The singles wins represented the team-leading third this spring for Stevens, the second for Etter, and the primary for Swain and Serenita.
